Troubled Production: According to one animator from David Production, this Part would be difficult to adapt unless animation technology improves. In the guidebook JoJoveller, it's stated that the name change was actually a request from the editorial department to increase sales by featuring a "new series". In the author's notes of volume 1, Araki flat out states that he considered SBR as Part 7 from the very beginning. God Never Said That: It's common to find people saying that Steel Ball Run was not originally meant to be JoJo Part 7, and that Araki changed his mind and retroactively made it one, based on the fact that it didn't originally carry the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" name. However from chapter 24 onwards, Steel Ball Run was moved to the monthly seinen magazine Ultra Jump which would become the new home for JJBA. Channel Hop: Steel Ball Run initially ran in Weekly Shonen Jump for the first 23 chapters like the previous six parts. However, its sales were relatively poor as the Japanese weren't attracted as much to the premise while it was running and it is currently mostly unavailable to the West except for Italy and France.

Acclaimed Flop: Steel Ball Run is considered one of the best parts of the series if not the best part by the fandom worldwide.
